STEPHANE LAJOIE
Visual artist

Stephane Lajoie_Plasticien.jpg

Born in Quebec, Stéphane Lajoie became a civil engineer with a master's degree in water treatment from Laval University in 1999. He moved to Port-au-Prince in the early 2000s, where he worked as an engineer in drinking water distribution.

A graduate of Visual and Media Arts School at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in 2014, he returned to Haiti in 2017 to participate in the international painting and sculpture symposium PROMART. He organized his first solo exhibition and catalogue EARLY WORKS in 2020 in Montreal. He has since produced a second catalogue, EXPO 17, in 2022 and exhibited his works in London in 2023.

At the same time, he founded the firm INGANG DESIGN in 2014, which works in engineering and visual arts.

Just like contemporary art popularized since the 1970s, the artist's approach is based on autonomy, creativity and authenticity. It comes from a shift from the rational to the sensitive in its construction of a useful and committed artistic thought at the political, social, relational and maneuvering levels.
