ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition presents a main series of five paintings devoted to the “landscapes” of mining facilities, broken down and then reconstructed from photographs taken in 2014 as part of an interrupted development project in Labrador West. The exhibition also includes a collage-sculpture evoking an “economy of nature” in Canada, as well as acrylic-mounted reproductions of branches extracted from the paintings.

Like the exhibitions presented at Galerie INGANG, this proposal aims to highlight the abuses and contradictions of the contemporary capitalist system. It seeks to open a critical reflection on possible paths of transformation, particularly, in the context of the current exhibition, around issues of energy and extractivist sobriety.

As with any artistic practice, the aim is not simply to denounce a situation or identify those responsible, but rather to inscribe the critical argument at the very heart of the creative processes and modes of interaction with the public.
