ABOUT THE ARTIST - RIBOUL
Born in Port-au-Prince, in the commune of Pétion-Ville, Riboul Monfleury has lived in Quebec since 2018. Self-taught, he began painting in the early 1990s, then took part in several workshops, both as a participant and organizer. art in Haiti, France, the Netherlands, Martinique and the United States. He has also exhibited his works in Spain, the Dominican Republic and Saint-Martin, as well as in Canada on several occasions since his arrival.
His style spans the registers of figurative, abstract and cubism. It is expressed in a treatment of acrylic paint applied sometimes flat, sometimes in relief but always through a structured technique of colors and textures expressing a complex and elaborate reflection.
Her artistic approach, based on autonomy and creativity, also draws on resilience in the face of separations that have dotted her path. Her artistic thought, which thus originates in her emotional depths, is vigorously developed to pay tribute to life. itself.
ABOUT THE ARTIST - ASTRYD
Originally from Haiti, Astryd Roy now lives in Miami. The jewelry she designs and makes has been exhibited throughout the United States, Mexico and Italy and has been sold internationally for several years.
The materials that make up her works include coral, stones and ox horn that she brings back during her stays in Haiti. She has also created a collection of works for exhibition only that reproduce the original jewelry of the Tainos, indigenous people of the island of Hispaniola, which were decimated during the European conquest.
Each piece is unique, intentionally crafted from naturally sourced materials and throughout the process, hand-created with mystical care and consideration to become more than just another piece of jewelry, but in its very essence, a living and spiritual art.
